I am going to be moving my domain, (www.fevisyu.com) from a photography website to a SEO website. I don’t exactly know what is going to happen as this is the first time that I am switching industries. For most of my clients, I have switched domains from new to old and back to new to maximize a new Search algorithm. However, I have never done an industry switch. Below are a few examples.
The Renaissance domain shift
This luxury villa on Seven Mile Beach was actually one of my first condo clients. They initially had a .ky domain but then Google launched Google Instant. Google Instant was this algorithm that localized Country Specific Top Level Domains (TLD). Because Google had so many data centers, it just made sense. So I had to switch them to a .com in order for them to show up and be added in the main US Google Data Centre. Now, if you search for “cayman villas” you will notice that my client is on the first page of that keyword. They are not on the top part of the page because they did not want to invest in being at the top. I just made sure they were visible on the homepage.
Cayman 4Rent domain shift
This is one of my internal projects, when Google Instant was released, I was surprised that my website was not no.1 in the US Data Centre, like it was no. 1 in Cayman. so I changed the domain from a .ky to .com and did a 301 redirect. After a month my website was no. 1 both in the Cayman Islands and the USA.
